Ophthalmology is the study of the structure and function of the eye. Ophthalmologist diagnose eye conditions and disease and treat patients who have them by prescibing medications or performing surgical procedures.  They also perform refractions, prescribe corrective lenses and perform other test to help maintain  good vision.

The department of Ophthalmology at Collom and Carney Eye Institute in Texarkana, TX, has 22 staff members including four medical doctors.  Our goals are to provide outstanding medical and surgical eye care, to promote understanding of eye conditions and diseases, and to conduct research to advance knowledge in Ophthalmology.
